Boise National Forest
Located just a few miles Northeast of Boise, Idaho, the Boise National Forest is one of the largest and
oldest National Forests in the country. The Ponderosa pine forests and Sawtooth Mountains that make up the
region are home to diverse wildlife. Hunters come out for mule deer and Rocky Mountain elk. Fisherman enjoy
the local trout, as well as the salmon and steelhead that come up the Salmon River and its tributaries.
Hikers, mountain bikers and horsemen come for the scenic trails. Hot springs throughout the forest provide
a pleasant respite on cool days. |

Antelope Campground is located about 43 miles from Horseshoe Bend at an
altitude of 4800 feet. To get there from Horseshoe Bend take Highway 52 9 miles west to the junction with
the Sweet/Ola Highway. Turn north and travel 16 miles to Ola, Idaho. Travel north through Ola and follow the
signs, 18 miles to Sagehen Reservoir. The paved road turns to gravel a few miles north of Ola.
Set in a conifer forest on the Sagehen Reservoir, this campground has 28 camp sites. The scenery is
beautiful, and campers come to boat and fish.
Amenities include drinking water, fire rings, grills, picnic tables, and a courtesy dock on the reservoir.
Firewood can be purchased on site.
Fees are $12 /night for a single site with up to 8 people and 1 vehicle.

Big Eddy Campground is located 15 miles north of Banks on Hwy 55. Set in a
forested, mountain area on the North Fork of the Payette River, this campground has 4 single sites. All
sites are rented on a first-come-first-served basis. Campers come here to fish for whitefish and rainbow
trout in the river, hike, or visit the nearby historic steam engine site. Campsites will hold rigs up to
20' in length.
Amenities include vault toilets, a paved entrance road and gravel spurs, picnic tables and fire rings.
Fees are $12 /night for a single site with up to 8 people and 1 vehicle.
Check out time is 1 p.m. This campground is open from the middle of May to the beginning of September.

Canyon Creek Campground is located 9 miles north of Banks on Hwy 55. Set in
a sheltered forest on the North Fork Payette River, this campground has 6 single sites. All sites are rented
on a first-come-first-served basis. Campers come here to fish, relax, and enjoy the beauty and diverse
wildlife of the area.
Amenities include paved roads and gravel spurs, an old style pit toilet, fire rings, a hand pump for
drinking water, and picnic tables.
Fees are $12 /night for a single site with up to 8 people and 1 vehicle.

altitude of 4800 feet. To get there from Horseshoe Bend take Highway 52 9 miles west to the junction with
the Sweet/Ola Highway. Turn north and travel 16 miles to Ola, Idaho. Travel north through Ola and follow the
signs, 18 miles to Sagehen Reservoir. The paved road turns to gravel a few miles north of Ola.
Set in a thick pine forest on the shores of Sagehen Reservoir, this campground has 6 single sites.
These sites can be reserved as a single group site. Campers come here to fish, swim, and boat in the reservoir, or hike and relax along its
banks.
Amenities include motorcycle trails,

a group site with up to 50 people and 6 vehicles (reservations only).

Swinging Bridge Campground is located 8 miles north of Banks on Hwy 55. Set
on a forested mountain along the North Fork Payette River, this campground has 11 single sites. All sites
are rented on a first-come-first-served basis. Campers come here to fish and relax. Sites at this
campground will hold RV's or trailers up to 24' in length.
Amenities include paved roads and gravel spurs, a hand pump for drinking water, a vault toilet and an
old style pit toilet, picnic tables and fire rings.
Fees are $12 /night for a single site with up to 8 people and 1 vehicle.

Third Fork Cabin is located 18 miles north of Ola on Road 618.
Set in the mountains among old growth ponderosa pine along a small stream, this one room cabin will hold
4 people comfortably. The cabin has one double and two single beds, a propane stove & refrigerator, a wood
stove, and an indoor bathroom with a flush toilet and a shower. There is a fenced yard outside with a picnic
table and a fire ring. Bring your own bedding, utensils, light, and water, as drinking water may not be
available. The cabin is available by reservation only. A combination to the cabin's padlock will be
provided on the rental reservation confirmation letter.
Campers come here to stream fish, hunt, and generally relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Fees are $50 /night from April 12th through November 5th.
Check out time is 1 p.m. Camping is not allowed at this site. No saddle, pack or draft animals are
allowed.
