Toiyabe - Bridgeport

Encompassing all of the National Forest lands in Nevada as well as those in a small portion of eastern California, the Humboldt - Toiyable is the largest National Forest in the lower 48. American Land & Leisure currently runs facilities in three Ranger Districts in this forest: the Carson, Bridgeport, and Spring Mountain Ranger Districts.

Located in eastern California, the Bridgeport Ranger District is one of the largest Ranger Districts in the country. Fishermen are delighted by the mountain streams and glacial lakes. Other local attractions include the beautiful peaks of the Hoover Wilderness, the diverse local wildlife, the high elevation desert of the Great Basin, and the meadows of spring wildflowers.

Bootleg Campground is located about 7 miles South of Walker at an elevation of 6600 feet. Set among Jeffrey Pines near the West Walker River, this campground has 63 single sites. Campers come here to fish, hke, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

To get there from Bridgeport, drive approximately 22 miles north on Highway 395. Campground is on left hand side of highway in Walker Canyon.

Amenities at the campground include paved roads, flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most sites have tent pads and can accommodate trailers up to 35 feet.

Fees are $18 /night for a single site with 6 people and 1 vehicle. Extra vehicles are each charged $6 /night.

Buckeye Campground is located about 13 miles from Bridgeport at an elevation of 7000 feet. Set among pines and sagebrush on Buckeye and Eagle Creeks, this campground has 65 campsites. Campers come here to hike, fish, hunt, and visit the nearby hot springs.

To get there follow Highway 395 south from Bridgeport, turn left and travel approximately seven miles on Twin Lakes Road. Turn right on Buckeye Road at Doc and Al's Resort and travel about 3 miles. Turn left at fork and travel another mile to campground.

Amenities at the campground include 1 flush and 3 vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables and fire rings. Roads to the campground are not paved. Most sites have tent pads and can accommodate an average size RV.

Fees are $16 /night for a single site with up to 6 people and 1 vehicle. Extra vehicles are each charged $6 /night.

Chris Flat Campground is located about 15 miles from Walker at an elevation of 6600 feet. Set along the West Walker River, this campground has 15 sites. Campers come to Chris Flat to fish.

To get there from Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, drive approximately 20 miles. The campground is on the right hand side of the highway.

Amenities at the campground include vault toilets, paved roads, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most sites have tent pads and can accommodate an average size RV.

Fees are $18 /night for a single site with up to 6 people and 1 vehicle. Extra vehicles are each charged $6 /night.

Obsidian Campground. Obsidian has 14 campsites, is set on the Little Walker River, and has access to nearby hiking trails into the Hoover Wilderness. Campers come to Obsidian to fish, hike, and enjoy the beautiful nature views of the Hoover Wilderness Area.

To get there from Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, drive approximately 16 miles to Little Walker Road. Turn left on Little Walker Road (Forest Service Road # 066). Go approximately three miles on that unpaved road to the campground sign.

Amenities at the campground include vault toilets, picnic tables and fire rings. Access roads and roads within the campground are unpaved. Bring your own drinking water. Most sites can accommodate tents and average size trailers.

Fees are $11 /night for a single site with up to 6 people and 1 vehicle. Extra vehicles are each charged $6 /night.

Crags Campground is located 10 miles from Bridgeport at an elevation of 7000 feet. Set among jeffrey pines and sagebrush near Robinson Creek and Lower Twin Lake, this campground has 47 single sites, 2 double sites, and 1 group site. Campers come to this beautiful, sunny area to fish, hike, hunt, and relax.

To get there from Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, turn left and travel approximately 11 miles on Twin Lakes Road. Turn left on South Twin road and travel about ½ mile. Turn left at the Crags Campground sign.

Amenities at the campground include flush and vault toilets, paved roads, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most sites will accommodate tents and trailers up to 45 feet.

Fees are $18 /night for a single site with up to 6 people and 1 vehicle, or $36 /night for a double site with up to 12 people and 2 vehicles. The group site fee is $100 /night with up to 45 people and 10 vehicles. Extra vehicles are each charged $6 /night.

Green Creek Campground is located about 10 miles from Bridgeport at an elevation of 8000 feet. Set in a quiet forest along Green Creek, this campground has 11 campsites and 2 group sites. Campers come here to fish, hike, and enjoy the quiet and beautiful scenery.

To get there from Bridgeport, drive approximately four miles south on Highway 395 to Green Creek Road (Forest Service Road #142). Turn right and travel another 11 miles on the dirt road until road ends at the campground.

Amenities at the campground include vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Roads to and within the campground are unpaved. Campground has one pull-through site suitable for an RV, but the other sites are not suitable for trailers.

Fees are $16 /night for a single site with up to 6 people and 1 vehicle. Fees for the group sites are $55 /night for the small group site with up to 25 people and 5 vehicles, and $70 /night for the large group site with up to 30 people and 5 vehicles. Extra vehicles are each charged $6 /night.

Honeymoon Flat Campground is located about 10 miles from Bridgeport at an elevation of 7000 feet. Set among jeffrey pine and sagebrush along Robinson Creek, this campground has 35 sites. Campers come here to hike, fish, and play in nearby Upper and Lower Twin Lakes.

To get there from Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, turn left and travel approximately 10 miles on Twin Lakes Road. The campground is on both sides of Twin Lakes Road.

Amenities at the campground include paved access roads, unpaved campground roads, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most sites have tent pads and some sites can accommodate up to 45 foot trailers.

Fees are $16 /night for a single site with up to 6 people and 1 vehicle. Extra vehicles are each charged $6 /night.

Leavitt Meadows Campground is located 25 miles from Bridgeport at an elevation of 7800 feet. Set in a forest along the West Walker River, this campground has 17 sites. Campers come here to hike the nearby trails into the Hoover Wilderness Area, visit beautiful Silver Falls, or fish in the river.

To get there from Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, drive approximately 17 miles to Highway 108 at Sonora Junction. Turn left on Highway 108 and go approximately six miles. The campground is on left hand side of the highway.

Amenities at the campground include vault toilets, a paved access road, unpaved interior roads, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most sites can accommodate tents and average size trailers.

Fees are $16 /night for a single site with up to 6 people and 1 vehicle. Extra vehicles are each charged $6 /night.

Lower Twin Lakes Campground
is located 10 miles from Bridgeport at an elevation of 7000 feet. Set among pine and sagebrush on Robinson Creek and Lower Twin Lake, this campground has 15 sites and a day use area. Most sites can accommodate tents and up to 35 foot trailers. Campers come here to fish, hike, and play in the lake.

To get there from Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, turn left and travel approximately 11 miles on Twin Lakes Road. Then turn left on South Twin road and travel about ½ mile. The campground is on right hand side.

Robinson Creek Campground is located 10 miles from Bridgeport at an elevation of 7000 feet. Set among lodgepole and jeffrey pines along Robinson Creek, this campground is divided into two parts geographically and has 2 campground management couples. South Robinson has 25 sites and an amphitheater. North Robinson has 26 single sites and 2 double sites. Campers come here to fish, hike, and play in the nearby lakes.

To get there from Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, turn left and travel approximately 11 miles on Twin Lakes Road. The campground is on the left hand side of road.

Amenities at the campground include flush toilets at Robinson Creek South and vault toilets at Robinson Creek North, paved roads, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most sites can accommodate tents and up to 35 foot trailers.

Sonora Bridge Campground
is located 30 miles from Bridgeport at an elevation of 6800 feet. Set among jeffrey pines near the West Walker River, this campground has 23 sites. Campers come here to fish in the river, and hike into the nearby Hoover Wilderness Area.

To get there from Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, drive approximately 17 miles to Highway 108, Sonora Junction. Turn left on Highway 108 and go approximately one mile. The campground is on left hand side of the road.

Amenities at the campground include paved access roads and unpaved campground roads, vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most sites can accommodate tents and up to 35 foot trailer.

Trumbull Lake Campground is located 17 miles from Bridgeport at an elevation of 9770 feet. Set in a lodgepole pine forest on Lake Trumbull with views of the Hoover Wilderness Area, this campground has 39 single campsites, 18 double campsites, a group site, and a trailhead. Campers come here to swim and fish in the lake, and hike into the Hoover Wilderness Area and Yosemite National Park.

To get there from Bridgeport travel approximately 12 miles on Highway 395, turn right at Conway Summit on Virginia Lakes Road. Go approximately six miles on Virginia Lakes Road, the campground is on the right hand side of the road.

Amenities at the campground include paved access roads, unpaved campground roads, vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most sites can accommodate tents and trailers up to 40 feet.

Fees are $16 /night for a single site with up to 6 people and 1 vehicle, or $32 /night for a double site with up to 12 people and 2 vehicles. The fee for the group site is $48, and come with up to 18 people and 3 vehicles.

Check out time is 1 p.m. This campground is open from early June to the middle of October, depending on snowfall.
