Colville National Forest

Located in the northeast corner of Washington, this "forgotten corner" is home to a rich variety of wildlife: bighorn sheep, moose, wolf, lemming, whitetail dear, elk, mule dear, wild turkey, woodland caribou, cougar, the list goes on. The rounded, forested mountains are also home to exquisite local flowers, including the blue Camas flower the area is know for. Local streams team with cutthroat, rainbow and brook trout. More than a million visitors come from across the country every year to enjoy the natural beauty of this unforgettable wilderness. American Land & Leisure currently runs facilities in three Ranger Districts within the Colville National Forest: the Sullivan Lake, Colville, and Newport Ranger Districts.

East Sullivan Lake Campground is located 5 miles East of Metaline Falls, along the north shore of Sullivan Lake. To get there

This unusual campground is adjacent to a small grassy airstrip. Campers fly, boat, or drive in to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Hiking, boating, swimming, fishing, picnicking and piloting small aircraft are common recreational activities. The campground has 25 single sites, 13 double sites and 1 group site.

Amenities include paved roads, drinking water, picnic tables, vault toilets, fire rings, an air strip, a beach, and a boat launch.

Fees are $12 /night for a single site with up to 8 people and 1 vehicle, or $24 for a double site with up to 16 people and 2 vehicles. Extra vehicles are charged $6 each.

West Sullivan Lake Campground is located about 1/4 mile from East Sullivan along the North Shore of Sullivan Lake.

This half of Sullivan Lake campground has 10 single sites, and a busy local day use area.

Amenities include paved roads, drinking water, picnic tables, vault toilets, fire rings, an air strip, a beach, and a boat launch. Firewood is available for purchase on site.

Fees are $12 /night for a single site with up to 8 people and 1 vehicle, or $24 for a double site with up to 16 people and 2 vehicles. Extra vehicles are charged $6 each.

Mill Pond Campground is located 2 miles away from West Sullivan and has 10 campsites.

Amenities include paved roads, drinking water, picnic tables, vault toilets, and fire rings.

Noisy Creek Campground is located about 14 miles from Ione at an elevation of 2600 feet. Situated along the south shore of Sullivan Lake, this campground has 19 campsites, a group site, and a boat launch. Campers come out to fish, swim, hike and boat.

Amenities at the campground include a boat launch, vault toilets, piped drinking water, paved roads, fire rings and picnic tables. Firewood is available for purchase on site.

Fees are $12 /night for a single site with up to 8 people and 1 vehicle, or $50 /night for the group site with up to 40 people and 10 vehicles. There is an extra vehicle fee of $6 /night for each additional vehicle.

Edgewater Campground is located two miles from Ione along the banks of the Pend Oreille River. This recently renovated park includes a picnic area, boat ramp, and 21 single sites. Campers come out to fish for trout and bass in the river, boat, relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

To get there from Spokane, follow US Hwy 2 E (or U.S. Hwy 395 N it's the same road) 47 miles to where it becomes WA Hwy 20. Follow WA-20 another 3 1/2 miles (stay straight to go onto WA-31) to Elizabeth Ave (just before Ione). Turn right on Elizabeth Ave, and take the Ione Bridge east over the Pend Oreille River. After the bridge, take your first left onto Box Canyon Road (look for the Forest Service sign for Edgewater Campground). Follow this road 2 miles to the campground.

Amenities include paved roads, piped drinking water, vault toilets, picnic tables, a boat launch, river access, and fire rings. Firewood is available for purchase on site.

The following facilities are located in the Three Rivers Ranger District:

Gillette Campground is located about 13 miles from Ione on Lake Gillette at an altitude of 3900 feet. Set amidst a pine, fir, and larch forest, this campground has 29 single sites. Campers come here to fish for trout and swim in the lakes. There are good hiking trails nearby, and the local wildlife is varied.
