San Bernardino National Forest
Located just 60 miles east of Los Angeles, the local Forest
Service calls the San Bernardino a series of "wild islands in a sea of civilization." Ranging through five
mountain ranges, this beautiful and diverse area is home to abundant wildlife, including several
endangered species. It's also home to Big Bear Lake and Baldwin Lake Preserve, several ski areas in the
winter, two famous scenic drives, and fantastic views of desert and mountain wonderlands. The region in and
around the forest also includes five federally designated wilderness areas. Campers come here to fish, hunt, hike,
backpack, off-road, mountain bike, swim, boat, ski, snowboard, snowmobile, cross-country ski, you name it.
If it's done outdoors, it's done in the San Bernardino. |
