Tahoe - Sugar Pine

Straddling the north central Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Tahoe National Forest stretches from the "golden foothills" in the West to the rugged crest of the mountain range in the East. Criss-crossed by rivers and dotted by beautiful lakes, the Tahoe is known for its beauty and rustic charm. The Tahoe is also home to more than 800 miles of trails for hikers, backpackers, mountain bikers and equestrians. It's known for it's downhill and cross country skiing opportunities, panoramic views, and intriguing history.

American Land & Leisure currently runs five facilities in the Sugar Pine Area.

Shirttail Creek Campground is located 15 miles from Foresthill at an elevation of 3700 feet. Set among manzanitas and Ponderosa pine on Sugar Pine Creek, this campground has 30 single sites. Campers come here to fish, canoe, hike, and boat on nearby Sugar Pine Reservoir. The hosts at Shirttail also care for half of Manzanita Day Use Area. Water and sewer hookups are available. Hours are 30 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 60 hours per week per couple during the busy season. The campground is open from the end of April through October.

The area manager for the Sugar Pine region lives and works at Giant Gap Campground. Located 16 miles from Foresthill on Sugar Pine Reservoir, this campground is at an elevation of 3700 feet. Giant Gap has 30 single campsites, set in a cedar and pine forest overlooking the water. Campers come here to fish, hike and boat. The area manager also helps care for Manzanita Day Use Area, Forbes Group Area, and Sugar Pine Boat Ramp. Water and sewer hookups are available. This is a salaried position. The campground is open from late April to early October.

Sugar Pine Boat Ramp is located 4 miles from Giant Gap on the Sugar Pine Reservoir at an elevation of 3700 feet. People come here to launch their boats onto the reservoir. The hosts at the boat ramp also care for an RV dump station, and help care for the Forbes Group Sites. Water and access to the dump station are available. Hours are 20 hours per couple during the regular season and 30 hours per week per couple during the busy season.
