American Land & Leisure workamping gigs are mostly from May - September. Some start a little earlier, some go a little further into the fall. Before I started workamping for AL & L I thought wildflower season lasted for about a month in the spring. But I learned something by spending 3 - 5 months in a campground. I have been continually amazed at the wildflowers that bloom throughout the summer. No matter what part of the country we're in, desert or mountains or rain forests, we seem to see a new wildflower variety bloom every week!
The most important aspect of the best workamping job is location. Although you'll get to live in a place where most people can only visit for a few days, you may also want to venture outside the campground on your time off. If you want to go somewhere you've never been before, start with the state. Then narrow it down according to the type of scenery, climate or local attractions that you would like to experience. The state job options under our Employment menu show a map with our campgrounds marked.
Most AL&L positions are between 4 to 6 months, living in your self-contained RV, in one campground. Although you must spend the nights in the campground, you do not have to spend 24/7 there. You will get 1 day off per week with your spouse/partner. Manage your duties well and you'll have time on other days for exploring the local sights when business is low in the campground.
Choosing a location that you are not familiar with, will provide for new and interesting adventures.
