One host couple cares for Blackberry Campground from a full hookup site with a telephone land line for reservations and customer service.  Blackberry is open year-round.  Some hosts have enjoyed working year-round, others prefer just summer.  Winter hours are about 10 per week.

There is a lot of mowing to be done in the spring.   Depending on staffing and equipment, the River Edge couple may mow Blackberry.  The campground gets quite busy during July and August.  Campground hours may get up to 40/week for 6 to 8 weeks for the couple; depending on usage.  A golf cart is available for use in the campground.

Daily chlorine testing and chlorinator management is required and accurate logs are kept by the host.  The summer couple may be required to use their own vehicle for visiting the pump house on the other side of the river.  Mileage will be reimbursed.  A company vehicle may be available for use during the winter months.

Campers enjoy swimming and catching crawdads in the Alsea River in the summer.  Salmon fishing in the fall and steelhead in the winter months make Blackberry popular with the fishermen.  It's also a great base camp for the fall hunters.

Blackberry is about 18 miles inland from Waldport on the Oregon Coast.  It is about 10 degrees warmer than the coast.  It also does not experience the fog and wind that can be common on the coast.
