One host couple cares for these 3 day use areas from a full hookup site in Dogwood. Areas are paved and accessible from the Highway 190 in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Birches does not have a paved parking lot. You park in a graveled pull-out next to the highway and walk across a bridge over Big Cottonwood Creek to access the picnic sites, restroom and pay station.
Dogwood is near the base of the canyon and has a gate that you will open and close; morning and night. You will handle reservations for Dogwood. Ledgemere is the next, about 1/2 mile up, and Birches is another 1/2 mile further up the canyon. Ledgemere and Birches do not have gates and we do not take reservations. There is a restroom and pay station in each. Mileage is reimbursed for use of your own vehicle in caring for these campgrounds. A truck is recommended as you will also need to remove garbage bags from cans at Ledgemere and Birches.
No drinking water is available in any of these areas; except for the host at your site. This is a watershed for Slat Lake City and pets are not allowed.
Full services, grocery/fuel/laundry/dining, are available within 2 or 3 miles of Dogwood in the Cottonwood Heights/Sandy area.
