ELDORADO NATIONAL FOREST
Placerville Ranger District
Scenic ridgelines dominate Placerville Ranger District: Plummer, Baltic, Plum Creek, Mill Creek, Alder, and Iron Mountain. Campers enjoy stunning mountain streams as they rush throughout the District carrying both native and planted trout. Hikers and OHV's have plenty of opportunity to enjoy trails. The Pony Express National Historic Trail winds through the northern reaches of the District while the 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail borders the eastern boundary.
Silver Fork Campground
Silver Fork Campground is located about 8 miles south of Kyburz on the Silver Fork American River. Campers come out to fish and enjoy the spectacular scenery. The campground has 35 single campsites. Toilets and drinking water are available.
Capps Crossing Campground
Capps Crossing Campground is located about 25 miles from Pollock Pines on the North Fork of the Cosumnes River. Campers come out to this beautiful, remote campground to fish, hunt and hike.
Sand Flat Campground
Sand Flat Campground is located about 2 miles west of Kyburz on Highway 50. Situated in a pine forest on the banks of the Silver Fork American River, campers come out to fish, hike, and hunt.
China Flat Campground
China Flat is located about 2 miles south of Kyburz on the Silver Fork American River. Campers come out to fish, hunt, and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the river.
Bridal Veil Day Use Area
Bridal Veil Day Use Area is located about 5 miles outside of Pollock Pines on the South Fork of the Consumnes River. Visitors come out to picnic, hike, fish, swim, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
