George Washington and Jefferson National Forest

Warm Springs & James River Ranger District

Warm Springs Ranger District is nestled in the scenic Allegheny Mountains.  Some of the best trout streams in Virginia run through this area of the forest and some of these streams feed into Lake Moomaw.  Lake Moomaw offers camping, boating, water skiing and swimming, in addition to fishing.  The District also offers over 120 miles of trails to enjoy on horseback or on foot.

Blowing Springs

The campground has a mix of sunny and shaded campsites.  A unique geological feature creates a duct that blows air out of the rocks at a constant 58 degrees, which may feel warm or cool depending on the season. Direct access to trails leading to swimming holes, and a stream stocked with trout are a few of the many reasons to visit this campground.
