There are eight hundred miles of rivers and streams and many serene lakes for you to explore in the Stanislaus National Forest. The forest is located south of Lake Tahoe and north of Yosemite in the Sierra Nevada. Easily accessible from Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto, the forest offers recreational opportunities to all. Located near Yosemite, in the Sierra Nevada, is the Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest. It encompasses the Highway 120 corridor with campgrounds along the Tuolumne River. People come here for the wildlife viewing, hiking, rafting, kayaking, fishing and access to Yosemite National Park.
