Horse Creek Campground, Central Coast, Oregon

Horse Creek Campground

Siuslaw National Forest \ Central Coast Ranger District

Horse Creek Campground is high up on top of Cape Mountain, along the Oregon Coast Horse Trail.  Take Forest Road 58 from Hwy 101 about 1/4 mile south of Sea Lion Caves.  You'll see the campground sign about 4 miles up the one lane road with turnouts for passing horse trailers.

This is a remote campground.  There is no garbage service; pack it in, pack it out, to keep critters of all sizes out of your campsite.  There are bear and cougar in the area and fresh berries in the summer.  Wild blackberry, thimbleberry and salmonberry bushes are scattered throughout the campground.

Most campsites have a picnic table, fire ring and either a corral or hitching post.   There is one vault toilet, cared for weekly by the Campground Host in either Alder Dune or Sutton Campground.  No drinking water is available for people but a trough is available for horses on the trail.
