Just 12 miles south of the Carson Pass Highway (Hwy 88) in Northern California, are the Blue Lakes. PG&E manages the hydroelectric power plants on the lakes, provides campgrounds and access to the lakes for fishing, swimming and boating with small boats.
The Lower Blue Lake Campground has 17 developed campsites on the shoreline at 8100' elevation. It is open from early June to mid-October.
